Week 13

28 Oct

All of my friends lucky to be mamas already told me about websites that would send me weekly emails telling me what the baby is doing this week and I LOVE reading them! I just got my email from Fit Pregnancy and week 13 is a big week for Baby Eagle! Even though he/she is just 3 inches long (they compared the baby to a medium goldfish…..really?!), the peanut is moving around and even is getting the hiccups! The facial features are already distinctive and I’m wondering who will the baby look like?? Dark hair, dark eyes like Ryan? Light hair, light eyes like me? A perfect mixture of both?

Where’s the bump?

26 Oct

I know I shouldn’t complain, but for the first time in my life, I wish my stomach stuck out a little more noticeably! When will my cute bump pop? When will I get warm smiles and questions about when I’m due while in line at the grocery store? When will I get to wear super cute maternity clothes that show off my round belly………I’ve never been very patient! hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm………….

Poll: Baby Bedding

22 Oct

I’ve discovered that finding unisex baby bedding that I like is hard! I’ve searched every trendy baby site, modern baby gear┬ásites, regular sites, like Target and Babys R Us, and was underwhelmed by the choices.

So where did I happen to stumble across the cutest stuff? Grama Vi would be proud: JC PENNY’s!
Here are our favorites. I like this one the best and Ryan, of course, likes the other. Thoughts?

Dreams

19 Oct

I am normally not a person who dreams…..like, ever! But right after I found out I was pregnant at the beginning of September I had the most amazing dream.

I dreamt I was sitting in an auditorium full of people and a person in the row in front of me, to the left just a bit, turned around. It was my dad and he just smiled at me…… and that’s all I remember. I woke up with a feeling of peace, knowing that my dad is here with us and is so happy for us.
There is nothing my dad wanted more than grandbabies (and he made sure to let us know!) I know he would be loving every minute of this and already planning what sort of freezies he was going to stock the freezer at the lake with.
miss you dad.

Hearing the heartbeat!

19 Oct

So today we had our 2nd appointment and we were able to hear the heartbeat! I started to get nervous at first b/c since I’m just 12 weeks, he had to move the doppler thing around a lot before he found it. He did say he could hear the baby moving around in there, but just had to get it close enough to hear the tiny little heartbeat! So cool….Ryan’s eyes were as big as dinner plates :)

The HR was around 150 the Dr said, so thats good! I go back in November just for a regular check and then again in December for my 2nd ultrasound. I cant’ believe that by the time December gets here, I’ll be halfway…the homestretch!

Feeling good (with my fingers crossed!)

8 Oct

When I had my first doctors appointment at the end of the September, I was already over my small bout with all-day sickness…but my Doctor warned me that I could ‘relapse’ before the end of my first trimester. Knowing so many of my friends who spent literally months bent over a toilet puking their guts out, I know I’ve been lucky to just feel a little sick here and there, but I do NOT want it to come back! The past couple of weeks I’ve been feeling great, eating pretty normally (ok, so the daily bowl of ice cream may not be normal), and working out. I just hope this keeps up for the last couple of weeks of my 1st trimester. Fingers crossed!

Books, books, and books!

8 Oct

The day I found out I was pregnant, I had to go buy books! I bought “the bible”: What to Expect When You’re Expecting. A couple of days later I got a package in the mail from Rachel with the Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregnancy (hilarious, honest and almost too detailed!), then we got Hands off My Belly (yet to start) and Ryan picked up So You’re Going to Be a Dad (also yet to start). As much as I love books, I’m having a hard time getting through these…..It still feels surreal that I’m really pregnant. Maybe soon.

Any good reccomendations from the other mama’s out there for books that give good info without making it all seem rosy and pain-free? I want honesty!

Should my pants be tight already!?

5 Oct

In the past couple of days I’ve noticed my pants fitting quite a bit tighter and leaving that dreaded red mark on my tummy….ugh. If only I had the cute bump I’ve been imagining and not just what feel like a fat tummy after a big binge! I know I shouldn’t complain because my body is preparing a soft, cushy little ‘nest’ for the peanut, but man, if I could wear yoga pants all day that would be fabulous!!
Not much new to report..my weekly emails tell me the baby is the size of a grape and is developing the chambers of the heart and its sex organs, though we will have to wait 9 more months for that surprise!!
Next dr appointment: October 19. Stay tuned.
