Babies need so much stuff!

3 Nov

Even though Ryan wouldn’t dare tell anyone, we spent a Friday night at Baby’s R Us a couple of weeks ago playing with car seats, strollers and pack-n-plays and ultimately feeling really dumb. The cool thing about Baby’s R Us is that they have the actual seat of a car in the store so you can practice hooking the carseat into the car…needless to say we were pretty sure our baby would not have been safe with the way we rigged things. By the time we left the store, we were overwhelmed to say the least. We took a few days to let it sink in then actually started our registry. Baby’s need so much stuff! I thought some onsies, diapers (lots of diapers!) and a crib and call it good…right? Right?! Um, no.
So here’s my question of the day:

What have you used with your babies that you would recommend?

Bottles, diapers, pacifiers, strollers, carseats…what are the brands you love? (We need all the help we can get!)

Here is what I have been using and like:
bottles–Avent BPA free, she doesn't seem to swallow a whole lot of air and there isn't as many parts to wash as with the Dr. Brown's or Born Free ones.
diapers–Pampers swaddlers are my favorite. That is what we use at the hospital also and they are the softest and I think the most leak-proof. Definately a plus!!
car seat–I have an Evenflo and like it OK, but I have a friend that has the Chicco Keyfit 30 and the straps are much easier to adjust in the Chicco and base is very easy to install in the car. Babe can also be in this one until 30 lbs instead of 20 like most other car seats. The only downside….more expensive and if you want an extra base, they are twice as much as well.
Pack-and-play: So I bought one of these because I thought we needed one…..have used it once! If you are not on different levels of the house, you can probably do without too. The one I have is a Combi and I like it but really didn't need it!

If you are finding stuff you like online, check for it on Amazon.com. I have found a lot of stuff much cheaper here and usually get free shipping over $25. Another awesome website is diapers.com. You get free shipping on orders over $49 and stuff comes in a day. They have tons more stuff than just diapers. Enter my code: LEIS7642 and you can get $10 off your first order.
K–so I hope I didn't just overwhelm you even more!! Hope you are feeling good. Felt baby kick yet?? Love, Chris and Laura

Ok, one more thing. If you are looking at swings….make sure you get one that you have the option to plug into an outlet. Some of them come with just battery power source. You will changing batteries often!
